Who it is for
Anyone who wants to work on the doors of pubs, bars, clubs, festivals, stadiums and events. A door supervisor licence also lets you work as a security guard, so it is the most flexible licence you can hold.

How you are assessed
Multiple choice exams for the knowledge units, plus practical assessments for conflict management and physical intervention. Physical intervention is assessed in person at the centre.
After the course
Once Highfield confirms your result you can apply for your SIA Door Supervisor licence on the SIA website. You will need proof of identity and address, and the SIA carries out a criminal record check. Licences last three years.
Common questions
How long is the door supervisor course?
The course runs over 6 days. The SIA sets the minimum training time at 44 hours with self study, or 52 hours over 7 days without.
Is the SIA licence fee included?
No. The SIA charges £204 for a three year licence and you pay it directly to the SIA when you apply.
Do I need any experience?
No previous security experience is needed for Level 2 courses. You need to be 18 or over to hold an SIA licence and able to show proof of identity.
My door supervisor licence is expiring. Which course do I need?
To renew you take the shorter refresher course, not the full qualification. The refresher runs over 1.5 to 2.5 days and starts from £139.
